Inhibition of main railway artery from Germany to Switzerland and Italy for
an indefinite period of time
According to a message from the German Railways Deutsche Bundesbahn, the railway tracks on the section between Mannheim and Basel are currently inhibited due to a heavy technical disruption.
The analysis regarding the cause of the disruption is underway. Based on the current situation the lines between Rastatt and Baden-Baden will remain shut for quite some time; it is estimated that the inhibition will last for at least one or two weeks.
DAs a result, the railway traffic between the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy is severely affected. Emergency concepts for the circumvention of the problem area are actually being worked on. However, the disruption will undoubtedly have a strong negative effect on capacities.
We are in the process of establishing alternatives for our customers whose cargo is being affected in the course of pre- and / or on-carriage traffic with the NWC-ports.
